Euroskara – IPTV Subscription for Europe - Channels and Leagues Country by Country

Roku Players and Roku TVs: Realistic Options for European Viewers

Roku is sold in only a few European countries, chiefly the UK, Ireland, France and Germany, and its store is curated more tightly than Amazon’s or Google’s. Nothing can be installed from outside it. So rather than a single recipe, this guide opens with a choice between three routes and is candid about which of them you can still rely on in six months’ time.

Have these to hand

  • Roku Express, Streaming Stick, Ultra or a television running Roku OS
  • A Roku account registered in your country
  • Your Euroskara Xtream login or M3U link
  • An Android phone or Windows laptop, if you plan to mirror

Still waiting for login details? A 24-hour trial costs nothing, or you can compare the plans first.

The walkthrough

  1. Choose a route before installing anything

There are three. A player from the Roku store is tidy but can be withdrawn without notice. Screen mirroring from an Android phone or Windows computer always works but keeps that device busy. A separate Android TV or Fire TV device in a spare HDMI port is the most dependable. If this Roku is on the television the household uses every evening, read step eight before you spend time on the first two.

  2. Check the Roku account country

The store you see is tied to the country chosen when the Roku account was created, and an existing account’s country cannot simply be switched. You can review the account at my.roku.com and the device details under Settings, System, About. If you moved country after creating the account, that explains why store listings may not match what friends see locally. It does not affect your Euroskara login, which works the same in every country, but it does narrow which players you will be offered.

  3. Search the store for a player

From Home, open Search, or the store section of the menu, and look for an IPTV player that accepts Xtream Codes or M3U. Names and availability differ between the UK, French and German stores and change over time, which is why we will not promise any particular one. Read the description: if it mentions Xtream or M3U playlists, it can take your account.

  4. Enter the login in the player

Open the player, choose its Xtream option, and type the server address with http:// and the port, then your username and password. The free Roku mobile app is quicker than the remote for this: open it, go to the remote and use its keyboard button while the text field on the television is selected.

  5. Mirroring route: allow it on the Roku

Go to Settings, System, Screen mirroring and set Screen mirroring mode to Prompt or Always allow. Roku mirroring uses Miracast, which Android phones and Windows laptops support but iPhones do not. Supported Roku 4K models accept AirPlay from Apple devices instead, through Settings, Apple AirPlay and HomeKit.

  6. Mirror from Android or Windows

On Android, pull down the quick settings and tap Smart View, Screen cast or Cast, depending on the phone maker, then pick the Roku. On Windows 10 or 11, press the Windows key and K and choose the Roku from the list. Start the channel in the player on that device, turn a phone to landscape, and the Roku shows it full screen. Stop the phone locking its screen while you watch, or the picture on the television goes with it.

  7. Set the refresh rate on a Roku 4K

On Roku 4K models, Settings, System, Advanced system settings, Advanced display settings includes Auto-adjust display refresh rate. With it on, a player that supports it can switch the television to 50 Hz for European channels, which smooths panning shots. Check Settings, Display type too, so the Roku outputs the resolution your television can show.

  8. Consider the dependable route

If this television is where the household watches most evenings, the tidy long-term answer is a Fire TV Stick or Google TV streamer in a second HDMI port. The Roku keeps doing what it does well, and the IPTV player lives on hardware that permits it. Switch with the television’s input button, or let HDMI-CEC wake the right device when you press a button on its remote. Your Euroskara login goes straight into TiViMate or IPTV Smarters on the new device, so nothing about the account needs changing.

When it does not go to plan

The player has disappeared from the Roku store

Roku periodically removes players of this kind. Your Euroskara account is unaffected, and the same credentials work on any other device. Mirror for now, or move this television to a second device.

The Roku does not show up in the phone’s cast list

Both must be on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network, and many European broadband hubs isolate devices on the guest network. Check that Screen mirroring mode is not set to Never allow, restart the Roku from Settings, System, Power, System restart, and try again.

Mirrored football stutters

Mirroring re-encodes the picture on the phone and sends it over Wi-Fi, so both limit it. Move closer to the router, use 5 GHz, close other apps and choose the HD rather than 4K copy of a channel. For live sport the second-device route is noticeably smoother.

An iPhone cannot mirror to the Roku

iPhones do not use Miracast. On a Roku whose settings list Apple AirPlay and HomeKit, switch AirPlay on and use Screen Mirroring from the iPhone’s Control Centre. Models without that menu cannot receive from an iPhone at all.

A Roku player rejects the login

The causes are the same as anywhere else: a missing port, a trailing space or a dropped http://. Some Roku players split the address into separate host and port boxes; put everything before the colon in the first and the number after it in the second.

The sound lags behind the picture while mirroring

Mirroring adds a delay of its own, and Bluetooth headphones on the phone or the television add more. Play the sound through the television speakers or a wired soundbar and see whether the gap closes. If it does not, a device playing the stream directly removes the problem entirely.

Questions about Roku

Can apps be sideloaded onto a Roku?

No. Roku’s developer mode exists for developers testing their own channels and is not a practical way for viewers to install third-party players. Treat any guide claiming otherwise with suspicion.

Do Roku TVs behave differently from Roku sticks?

Not for this purpose. A television running Roku OS has the same store and the same mirroring settings as a stick, so the three routes above apply unchanged.

Does Euroskara work with Roku at all?

Your login works in whichever player runs on or alongside the Roku. The limit is Roku’s store policy, not the account.

Which second device suits a Roku household?

A Fire TV Stick is easiest if the household already uses Amazon; a Google TV streamer suits people with Android phones. Both run TiViMate and IPTV Smarters Pro, and both take the same login you already have.

Can I cast a browser tab from a laptop to a Roku?

Chrome’s Cast button does not target Roku devices. Use system mirroring instead: on Windows, the Windows key and K sends the whole screen, including a browser tab or a desktop player, to a Roku that has mirroring enabled.

Does mirroring drain the phone battery?

Noticeably, because the phone decodes the stream and re-encodes it for the Roku at the same time. Keep it on charge for anything longer than a news bulletin, and switch on do not disturb so message previews do not pop up on the television in the middle of a match.
